Everyone has heard that the early bird gets the worm but is that necessarily true?  Actually, according to a fascinating new video by AsapSCIENCE, the answer isn’t quite as clear cut as you have been lead to believe.  While early birds typically function better in the early part of the day, night owls do have an advantage by the afternoon.  And did you know that you may not even have a choice in whether you can get up early or not?

That’s right.  It’s not a habit, it’s genetic.  Turns out there are slight but meaningful differences in the DNA of people who get up early and people who stay up late.  Those changes affect the amount of white matter, and thus the levels of serotonin, dopamine, and cortisol in your brain.  And weirdly enough, the same DNA sequence has been linked to your time of death!  Find out more by watching this video!
